Crystal palace v Tottenham – Spurs will clinch the points in this London derby

Pardew's homecoming will be spoiled by Spurs

Much is expected from Alan Pardew at Selhurst Park, however his homecoming will not be a happy one when Spurs come to town.

Perhaps one of this season’s biggest stories so far has been Alan Pardew’s decision to move from Newcastle to a Crystal Palace side which seems destined for relegation to the Championship at the end of the season. Pardew’s new charges may have triumphed against Conference side Dover Athletic in the FA Cup last weekend but Spurs will be a completely different kettle of fish when they visit Selhurst Park on Saturday.

Spurs are in fine fettle at the moment, having clinched ten points from a possible twelve and demolishing league leaders Chelsea to the tune of 5-3 last week. As such they will be in high spirits when they make the journey south of the river this weekend and are unsurprisingly firm favourites to take the three points back with them at odds of 6/5 with Paddy Power.

Indeed, on current form we would be expecting to see the visitors start this match at an odds-on price, especially with that man Harry Kane in the ranks. The star striker is on tremendous form at the moment and has sparked Spurs’ campaign back to life following a spell in the doldrums. He was nothing short of sensational against Chelsea and will pose the Palace rearguard no end of problems on Saturday evening.

Kane has scored no less than six times in his last seven outings and we fancy him to continue this excellent record against a Palace side which is struggling at the wrong end of the table. The striker represents excellent value with Betfair offering best odds of 13/8 on the Anytime Goalscorer market.

Crystal Palace won’t be the walkover that many are expecting however. They may be in the relegation zone but they are more than capable of getting their names onto the scoresheet as they have demonstrated recently. As such, we’ll be considering a Spurs win with both teams scoring, up for grabs at 4/1 with Coral.

Clearly the most attractive options remain a Spurs win and Harry Kane to score anytime. The visitors seem unstoppable at the moment and Palace will be powerless to prevent them heading home with three points under their belts.
