There was very little resistance from Hull City when they faced Manchester United on Saturday afternoon. Will things change at Goodison Park tonight? We doubt it!
Manchester United displayed perhaps their most dominant performance so far this term against a somewhat toothless Hull City side on Saturday afternoon. Red Devils’ keeper was scarcely tested during the match and Steve Bruce was a rather frustrated man, his team proving to be a shadow of that which reached the final of the FA Cup last season.
Should the Tigers continue to suffer defeat after defeat, Steve Bruce’s future at the club will be thrown further into doubt. It would be tragic should he suffer dismissal from a club which he has served particularly well, however results cannot continue as they are and a parting of ways could possibly become unavoidable.
Steve Bruce’s record in managerial circles undeniably good, however Roberto Martinez also enjoys a good reputation and we feel that it will be the latter who will be smiling at the final whistle at Goodison Park tonight.
The Toffees recorded a confidence boosting win over the second best team in the Bundesliga in their Europa League clash last week against Wolfsburg, however this was followed by a 2-1 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur. Nevertheless they will almost certainly bounce back from that defeat and clinch the points at home this evening.
There wasn’t much to choose between the sides at White Hart Lane on Sunday and the result is unlikely to have any real long lasting effect on Martinez’s side. It was the Toffees’ first defeat in nine matches and their home form appears to have stabilised following a poor start to the season.
Hull aren’t likely to provide us with any kind of shock result tonight so all we are left with is an Everton win. That’s good enough for us!
