Everton have been inconsistent to say the least, however they can put this behind them as they welcome Stoke City to the Britannia Stadium on Boxing Day.
The Toffees have managed a mere one win from their last six matches in all competitions and are winless in all but two of their last eight Premier League games. Manager Roberto Martinez had ambitions of a top five spot again, however the side are languishing in 11th position and much improvement will be needed should they wish to haul themselves back into the top half of the league table.
They look well off the pace of the top four contenders heading into the Christmas period, however Martinez is hopeful that they can put their 3-0 defeat to Southampton behind them and turn things around.
They have a perfect chance to return to decent form when they welcome Stoke City to Goodison Park, the Potters managing a mere four points from their last six top flight matches away from home. They are certainly not at their best on their travels and the Toffees have an opportunity to use this to their advantage on Boxing Day, Coral offering 17/20 for a home win, a price which is worthy of serious consideration.
Everton are lacking a prolific goalscorer, Romelu Lukaku’s efforts drying up of late and Samuel Eto’o failing to hit the back of the net for more than two months. Steve Naismith has managed a solitary goal in eight matches and the only glimmer of light is Kevin Mirallas, the player scoring three goals in his previous five games.
We fancy Mirallas to find the back of the net at any time of this encounter at odds of 15/8 with Bet365, or you could go for a Mirallas goal with an Everton victory at 5/2 with Boylesports. Our preference however is for the Toffees to simply win on Friday. Stoke are struggling away from the Britannia and despite the Toffees suffering some poor form of late, they should manage to get the job done in front of their home fans on Friday.
