West Ham are performing above expectations so far this term and look set to maintain their fine form when they travel to Merseyside this weekend.
This season has been full of the usual surprises however none have been greater than the Hammers climbing to fourth position in the Premier League table. Anyone who claimed that they would feature in the top five at this stage of the season alongside Swansea City and Southampton would have been declared insane, however that is exactly how things stand as we return from the international break. The big question is whether they can continue defying the odds at Goodison Park.
The Toffees have made Goodison a fortress over the past few seasons, however they have struggled on home turf this term, taking until October 18th to clinch their one and only home victory of the current campaign and as such, West Ham will be confident of taking the maximum points from this encounter.
Despite their inconsistent start to the season, the Toffees start this match as odds-on favourites, BetVictor offering 5/6 for an Everton win, the same bookie offering 18/5 for a Hammers win and 14/5 for a draw. Nevertheless, Harry Redknapp’s side are flying high at the moment and are extremely capable of returning home with the points in the bag. Their only wins on the road to date have been against strugglers Burnley and Crystal palace, however Everton are there for the taking and the Hammers will certainly get something for their troubles this weekend.
Diafra Sakho will be eager to get himself back on the goal trail at Goodison, the Senegalese player scoring in each one of his first six outings for the East London side. It would hardly be a surprise to witness him getting onto the scoresheet on Merseyside, Ladbrokes offering 5/2 for Sakho to score anytime, a price which offers plenty of value.
Both teams to score holds limited appeal at 8/11, however West Ham have got the strength and belief to win this match, or at the very least manage a draw. The Toffees will be without key player Leighton Baines on Saturday, and as such we’ll be backing a narrow away win for West Ham.
