Leicester City fans are already peering into the abyss that is the Championship, the side now sitting three points adrift of safety. Matters won't be helped on Saturday when they face a resurgent Crystal Palace side.
Things were starting to look a little brighter for Leicester City after Christmas. A 2-1 boxing day defeat to Tottenham Hotspur was followed by Premier League wins against Hull and Aston Villa as well as a draw at Liverpool.
It wasn’t the turnaround which many had hoped for however. Subsequent defeats to Stoke and Manchester City leave them firmly at the bottom of the league table and things won’t improve when they face a Crystal Palace side which appear to be turning their fortunes around.
Alan Pardew wasn’t exactly a hero on Tyneside, however he is highly regarded amongst the Selhurst park faithful and recent results would suggest that things are looking up in south London.
A home defeat to Everton last weekend was the first since Pardew took over the reins and will likely have dented confidence somewhat, however there is no denying that things are moving in the right direction and the side will be in high spirits when they visit the East Midlands on Saturday afternoon.
Things aren’t looking quite so rosy up at the King Power Stadium. It could be argued that Leicester have resigned themselves to a swift return to the Championship at the end of the season and judging by recent results their main interest looks to be the FA Cup, the Foxes reaching the fifth round following their 2-1 win away to Tottenham Hotspur last week.
Their Premier League record is much less impressive and they are unlikely to add to their four wins so far this season when Palace come to town. One thing they can do is score however and we expect them to find the back of the net at some point against an Eagles side which has managed just three clean sheets in the Premier League since the end ofSeptember.
This match isn’t going to be a goal-fest by any means. Crystal Palace will be expected to clinch the three points, however looking at recent results they will just scrape a win by a single goal margin.
