This clash at Anfield could prove pivotal in the fight for a top four spot and we're backing Spurs to do the business on Merseyside tonight.
Just a month or so ago, the Premier League top four spots seemed relatively easy to predict. Chelsea would clinch the title, Manchester City would come in second, Manchester United would finish third and Arsenal would just sneak past Southampton into fourth position and claim the final Champions League place.
Clearly, nobody has read the script and Southampton are still flying high with Arsenal showing their usual inconsistency and Manchester United stumbling along. With both Spurs and Liverpool finding some decent form, we could be seeing a fight to the death between five sides for the third and fourth spots in the table.
Ok so Man United and Arsenal are still favourites to finish behind Chelsea and Manchester City, however this match is likely to see plenty of backers for both sides and we fancy the North London side to be triumphant tonight at 7/2.
Spurs go into this match on the back of a 2-1 win over Arsenal at the weekend and are a single point adrift of the top four. Liverpool settled for a draw in the Merseyside derby at Goodison and are now just five points behind fourth placed Manchester United. As such, both sides will head into this clash believing that a place in the top four is achievable.
Nevertheless, Liverpool start this match as odds-on favourites, hardly surprising considering that they are on an eight match unbeaten run in the league. It must be remembered however that these results included wins against Burnley, Sunderland, Swansea, West Ham and Aston Villa and it might be hard to be too confident about their performance against a team such as Spurs.
The visitors have been in excellent form recently and Mauricio Pochettino is steering the side to some great performances, including wins over Arsenal and Chelsea. Spurs dominated against the former last weekend and we feel that they will prove too strong for Liverpool tonight.
The man to watch will certainly be Harry Kane, and following his brace against Arsenal last weekend, we’ll be backing him to open the scoring tonight at 13/2 with BetVictor.
Either way, the best value bet for us is a Spurs win at 7/2. Should you fancy backing a correct score, it could be worth bearing in mind that Spurs have won 2-1 on eight occasions in the last two months or so. You can back this score at 14/1 with Bet365.
