Manchester United will be looking for a fourth successive Premier League win when they clash with Stoke City on Tuesday evening.
Things are starting to look much rosier for Louis Van Gaal following a truly dreadful start to the season. With three successive wins behind them, United have moved up to fourth in the Premier League table and can follow up their wins over Crystal Palace, Arsenal and Hull City with another three points against the Potters on Tuesday.
The Red Devils sit firmly in a Champions League spot, however Arsenal and West Ham sit just behind them in the table so Van Gaal cannot afford to slip up in the slightest. The Old Trafford faithful will be demanding nothing less than three points against Stoke City and hardly surprisingly the hosts start this match as firm favourites, Betfred amongst a host of bookies offering 4/9 for a home win, Stoke available at 15/2 with 888sport and a draw up for grabs at 19/5 with the same firm.
We expect Van Gaal’s side to clinch the required win with ease, however odds of 4/9 hold very little appeal, therefore we’ll be sidestepping this and instead concentrate on other betting markets. The most obvious of these is United keeping a clean sheet against the Potters, BetVictor offering 7/5 for a United win-to-nil. Stoke have a poor scoring record, only three Premier League sides scoring less this term. Manchester United have also managed clean sheets in their last two outings, therefore this seems an attractive wager to us.
Wayne Rooney cannot be ignored in this match, the England star having been in top form lately with five goals in his last four outings. Indeed, he has scored ten times in the last thirteen matches and looks a solid bet to score anytime on Tuesday, Coral offering 6/5 for him to find the back of the net at some stage of the game and 4/1 available at Bet365 should he break the deadlock.
The best bets for us are undoubtedly a Man United win to nil and Rooney to score anytime. With both team and player returning to form of late, their winning ways can continue at Old Trafford on Tuesday against a Potters side which has lost all but two of their last five top flight matches.
