Manchester United appear to have turned the corner and will likely register their third successive win in the Premier League when they face Hull City at Old Trafford on Saturday.
Louis van Gaal may well be breathing a sigh of relief. Manchester United’s 2-1 win over Arsenal last weekend was their first win over one of the ‘big’ clubs this season and perhaps signals an upturn in fortunes for the Red Devils.
Van Gaal was demanding an improvement from his side and they seem to have responded as such with this weekend’s encounter with Hull City looking set to be United’s third top flight win on the bounce. Hardly surprising then that the Old Trafford side are odds-on favourites to seal the points at home on Saturday, Betfred amongst a host of bookies offering 1/3 for such an outcome, not an attractive price perhaps, but one which illustrates the manner of United’s turnaround.
The hosts should win this match with relative ease, indeed Man United have won each of the six meetings between the sides in Hull’s recent two seasons in the Premier League. The Tigers have failed to beat Van Gaal’s side in a little over 40 years and that statistic is unlikely to change after Saturday afternoon. Hull come into this match on the back of three successive defeats and will be lacking in confidence at Old Trafford, their form unlikely to improve at the ‘Theatre of Dreams’.
Talking of form, Wayne Rooney is returning to his best with goals in each of his last three games and netting no less than eight times in ten outings both for club and country. He will pose no end of problems for the visitors’ defence and we fully expect to see his name on the scoresheet this weekend.
With Rooney in the equation there are some tempting bets to be had. The star striker is up for grabs at 4/1 at Bet365 to open the scoring, that bookie offering unlimited each-way places making an each way bet an attractive option. A Rooney goal in a Manchester United win is up for grabs at 5/4 with Betfred and that’s what we’ll be backing.
