It's a mid-table battle in the north-east on Sunday afternoon when Stoke City visit St James' Park. Will the Magpies manage a second successive win? We doubt it!
The Toon Army certainly enjoyed their day in East Yorkshire last weekend and the 3-0 win against Hull City renewed hope that the side can start climbing up the league table once again.
Nevertheless, Hull City are a side looking relegation bound and in reality weren’t expected to get much from that match. It will be a different kettle of fish when the Magpies face a Stoke City side who are seeking their third successive Premier League win this weekend and we’re not expecting things to be so easy for the hosts.
Jonathan Walters was the hero at the Britannia Stadium last weekend, celebrating his 200th appearance for the Potters by scoring a hat-trick against a QPR side who look very much relegation bound.
We’re not expecting him to repeat that feat on Tyneside, however he will cause the home defence no end of problems and he can land himself on the scoresheet at some point of this match at odds of 31/10 at 888sport.
One win doesn’t represent a turnaround and we’re rather surprised to see Newcastle start this match as favourites. The Potters have scored fifteen goals since Boxing Day and we expect them to dominate against a Magpies side which has secured just three Premier League wins since late November.
Indeed, we can’t really see past a Stoke City victory and odds of 5/2 for a Potters win seem too generous for us to ignore.
