Harry Redknapp backing his team to replicate last weekend’s performance against Liverpool
QPR could easily have won against Liverpool and Harry Redknapp will hope that the team won’t be affected by the dramatic manner in which the Reds won the game at Loftus Road.
Rangers are the 29/20 favourites to claim victory with BetVictor and they will be up against an Aston Villa side who have lost their last four matches in the Premier League.
Much has been made of Rio Ferdinand’s omission from the side for the Liverpool game, although his manager refutes any suggestion that the former England defender should take the blame for QPR’s poor start to the campaign.
“It has not been as easy for him obviously but it’s funny how everybody is looking for a scapegoat and it’s all Rio’s fault.
“Obviously it’s been different for him but when we didn’t play well it wasn’t because of Rio. When we went to Tottenham and got beat by four I thought Rio and Caulker were our two best players, the only two who came out with any real credit.
“Last week, when he wasn’t in the team he was part of the team even though he didn’t start, and that’s important – you need people like that round the football club.
“I’m sure he would make a good manager. He’s a great lad and I have got so much time for him as a person and as a professional. He is out there at the front in everything he does, he works hard and has a great attitude.”
The match is likely to be a tight encounter and 1-0 win for QPR can be backed at 7/1, with Redknapp hoping for some stout defending.
It’s worth noting that Rangers’ only other victory came by a 1-0 scoreline against Sunderland, with Eduardo Vargas hoping to follow up his brace against Liverpool with more goals here.
