Hearts are unstoppable in Scotland's second tier this season and they will have a chance to extend their lead over Rangers to some sixteen points when the sides clash at Ibrox on Friday evening.
Hearts’ much publicised financial problems are very much behind them now and they look set to make a swift return to the Scottish Premier League at the first time of asking. Rangers in contrast appear to be in complete disarray, at least off the pitch. A cash crisis has re-emerged and things are far from rosy in the blue half of Glasgow.
Rangers sit thirteen points adrift of leaders Hearts and their title hopes are fading week by week. Hearts seem unstoppable this season and even a win for the Glasgow side would be unlikely to cause Hearts fans too much worry.
They Jambos needn’t worry. Rangers are a mess and we can’t back Kenny McDowell’s men to take anything from this match, the caretaker manager’s charges taking large wages but offering little in return.
Hearts resigned themselves to relegation from the top flight early last season thanks to a big points deduction. They came close to clawing their back towards the end of the season, however it was all too little too late. Nevertheless, their fine late-season form has continued into the current season and they are taking the division by storm, sweeping all aside.
The Edinburgh side have dropped a mere six points in their twenty matches so far this season and remain unbeaten in the league, rivals Rangers suffering five defeats already.
Indeed, two of those defeats were by Hearts, the Jambos thrashing Rangers on the opening day of the season in Glasgow. We’ll be expecting more of the same when the teams run out onto the Ibrox turf on Friday evening, Hearts backable at a generous price of 9/5 with Boylesports to make it three out of three against Rangers.
Rangers have also suffered defeat at the hands of Queen of the South, Alloa Athletic and Hibernian and we’ll be expecting the Ibrox home crowd to be dwindling well before the final whistle once again. Hearts are unstoppable at the moment and we’re somewhat surprised that they aren’t on offer at an odds-on price to win this match. Nevertheless, at 9/5 they have to be backed in this match so that’s what we’ll be doing…
