Spurs are out of the FA Cup and as such they will be taking no chances in the Capital One Cup when they make the journey to Bramall Lane. As such, their 1-0 advantage from the first leg is unlikely to be overturned by their League One opponents.
Sheffield United surely have a chance of reaching Wembley this season. They are still in the FA Cup thanks to a 1-1 draw against Preston North End at Deepdale and are a single point adrift of a play-off place.
Nigel Clough can’t be too optimistic about his side’s chances of remaining in the Capital One Cup however, their Premier League opponents bringing a 1-0 advantage from the first leg. As such, we feel that the home side will be out of the competition at the final whistle.
Indeed, would such an outcome come as such a huge disappointment to Blades gaffer Nigel Clough? Realistically, United cannot fight three battles at once and should they suffer defeat to PNE in the FA Cup fourth round replay, they could at least concentrate on the important job of securing promotion to the Championship.
The Blades will realise that a one goal deficit to Spurs means a huge mountain to climb in order to get back into contention, a fact which Tottenham manager Pochettino won’t have overlooked. As such, the visitors will start the match in all-out attack, looking for that early goal which could put the match out of reach for the home side.
Pochettino will field a very strong side for this clash and we will likely see top scorer Harry Kane in the starting eleven. The forward will prove a major headache for the home rearguard and we’ll be backing him to add to his season total of sixteen in all competitions with an anytime goal at Bramall Lane.
Either way, Sheffield United will be under pressure from the very start. Spurs will be taking no chances following their disappointing result in the FA Cup against Premier League strugglers Leicester City and an early goal could kill this tie stone dead.
