Bookmakers chop Saints from 10/1 to 7/2 after Lallana, Lambert and Lovren all leave St Mary’s
The Premier League relegation market has had a big market mover this summer, with Southampton’s odds about the drop moving from 10/1 to 7/2.
Mauricio Pochettino jumped ship at the end of the season to become the new manager of Tottenham Hotspur, while he has been followed out of the exit door by Adam Lallana, Rickie Lambert and Dejan Lovren.
Luke Shaw has signed for Manchester United and it appears that Morgan Schneiderlin is now angling for a move away from Southampton after handing in a transfer request as he tries to force a move to Tottenham.
Burnley are the odds-on favourites in the Premier League relegation market, although bet365 go as short as 7/2 about Southampton finishing in the bottom three of the table.
They could be duking it out with Crystal Palace, QPR and West Ham to avoid the drop, while West Brom have also been well backed ahead of the new season.
Thirteen of the twenty teams in the Premier League are operating at single figure odds on the relegation market, although Stoke City and Newcastle United are a 9/1 chance and not expected to figure in the final reckoning.
All odds were correct at time of posting.
