Mauricio Pochettino will be searching for a third successive victory when they welcome Burnley to White Hart Lane on Saturday.
Spurs were hopeful of achieving a top-four place at the end of the season, however their dreams were dealt a blow with a dip in form which saw them manage just two Premier League wins in over eight weeks. Nevertheless, Pochettino’s side look to be back on track following their 4-0 defeat of Newcastle United in the Capital One Cup.
The side have also embarked on a decent run which has returned ten points from their last five outings in the Premier League, the only defeat coming against leaders Chelsea.
As a result, Tottenham will go into this home match in extremely high spirits and Pochettino will demand another positive display against Premier League strugglers Burnley. The Clarets were surprise winners against fallen Southampton in their last match, however the feeling across the bookmakers is that they will struggle to build on that win with a second successive victory.
Hardly surprising then that Spurs start this match as odds-on favourites at 8/15 with Coral, a draw up for grabs at 18/5 with Boylesports and a Clarets win available at 13/2 with the same firm. We expect the hosts to live up to their billing as favourites by clinching full points on Saturday afternoon.
With Burnley managing a mere five points from their last seven games, the Spurs odds do offer decent value. Nevertheless, we’ll be looking further afield for some better value, starting with goalscorer markets. The first name we stumble upon is Spurs striker Harry Kane. He has scored in two successive matches following his midweek goal against the Magpies and with thirteen to his name for the season to date, he offers value on the Anytime Goalscorer market with Betfred offering 6/5.
Our favourite bet is for Spurs to triumph with both teams getting on the scoresheet, 888sport offering 40/17 for such an outcome. Burnley have scored in all but two of their last ten matches and they will face a Tottenham rearguard which has kept a mere three clean sheets out of their last eleven outings.
Both fans will have goals to cheer on Saturday, however the Spurs fans will be the ones cheering loudest at the final whistle.
