West Brom welcome Aston Villa to the Hawthorns on Saturday afternoon, each side experiencing contrasting form coming into this Midlands derby.
Aston Villa are on the up, climbing out of the bottom three in the Premier League thanks to back-to-back wins and three successive draws, a pivotal move perhaps being the departure of Roy Keane from his post as assistant manager.
The home side are struggling however and appear to be in free-fall, sitting close to the relegation zone following a disastrous run which includes four successive defeats. The Baggies started their campaign in good form, however Alan Irvine will be feeling the pressure following a dreadful turnaround in form, the side now a mere one point above the drop zone in what is a rather congested league table.
Aston Villa are moving in the other direction after successive wins against Crystal Palace and Leicester City. Nevertheless a lack of goals is still a concern for manager Paul Lambert.
Christian Benteke has now returned to the fold and is certainly influencing the final third, however ten goals in 15 matches is far from impressive and they are the joint lowest scoring team in the Premier League alongside Burnley.
Saido Berahino will make a return to the starting eleven for this match, however the England under 21 star has been struggling for goals recently and has had to watch from the subs bench in recent outings.
This fixture is traditionally a high-scoring affair, producing more than 2.5 goals in all but two of the last ten meetings and a price of 29/20 for this record to remain unbroken seems too good to ignore.
There is certainly very little to choose between these rivals, however Villa are in the ascendancy at present and this will count for much coming into this clash, the home side low on confidence following some poor performances of late.
Andreas Weimann may well prove to be the difference between the sides, the Austrian star topping the Villa scoring this season with three to his name. He offers excellent value at 19/5 with Ladbrokes to get onto the scoresheet on Saturday afternoon.
