West Ham have been flying high in the Premier League of late and can clinch another three points on Tuesday evening.
Despite a couple of setbacks recently, the bubble has yet to burst for the Hammers and Sam Allardyce’s side will be in high spirits following their 1-0 victory over Newcastle United on Saturday.
As we enter December, West Ham remain in fifth place in the Premier League and can consolidate this position with a victory against strugglers West Brom at the Hawthorns on Tuesday evening.
All this is a far cry from the start of the season, the Hammers struggling to make an impact with a mere four points won in in their opening five games. The supporters are unlikely to still be calling for Allardyce’s head, now that the Hammers have amassed 17 points from their last nine outings. Indeed, Saturday’s victory over an in-form Newcastle side will have boosted the side further and a win looks a near certainty on Tuesday evening.
The bookies are nevertheless playing things cool and the East Londoners start this match as outsiders at 11/5 with Bet365, a rather generous price in our opinion and one which we certainly won’t be ignoring. A West Brom win is a somewhat low 6/4 with Stan James and the draw is up for grabs at 5/2.
West Brom have suffered defeat in each of their last three outings without managing to find the back of the net and they will struggle to find a way past an in-form and confident West Ham side in this match. As such, we’ll be backing a Hammers win to nil on Tuesday evening. We wouldn’t usually associate clean sheets with West Ham, however on this occasion this would look to be a likely outcome.
The Baggies strikeforce may take some comfort from the fact that West Ham have conceded in six of their matches on the road, however the West Brom forward line hasn’t been in great scoring form of late and we expect their goal-drought to continue in this home match.
West Ham will be desperate to hang on to their European spot in the Premier League and as such, a win is a must. The hosts have failed to win any of their last four home games and this will continue on Tuesday.
