West Ham will be looking to take a step closer to their fourth FA Cup by sweeping past West Brom at the Hawthorns on Saturday afternoon.
Just two wins separate the Hammers from a semi-final date at Wembley, however they need to overcome what will be a determined Baggies side on Saturday afternoon.
The exit of Chelsea and Manchester City in the fourth round is a huge encouragement to all the sides left in the competition and the Hammers are fourth favourites to go all the way at 12/1, behind Arsenal, Man United and Liverpool.
They will be looking to continue their impressive Premier League form into this clash, the East London side knocking out Everton on penalties before seeing off a determined Bristol City side in the last round.
Things could have been so different at Ashton Gate however. Their punishment for fielding an ineligible Diafra Sakho in that match could have been much harsher, however they were handed a fine of £70,000 and remain in the competition despite the fact that it was the ineligible player who scored the winning goal.
West Brom may see this competition as a welcome diversion from their poor league campaign, however Tony Pulis has certainly lifted the side recently and they will be hopeful of following up their 2-0 midweek win over Swansea with a win tomorrow.
Nevertheless, things won’t be so easy against a West Ham side which has performed well above expectations so far this season. The Hammers defence is particularly solid and the Baggies will be hard pushed to find a way through. As such we’ll be backing a West Ham win-to-nil and under 1.5 goals.
Diafra Sakho is a controversial figure in this season’s FA Cup, however he will be looking to silence any criticisms by scoring the winning goal tonight. We think it will be the only one.
