Aston Villa are suffering a slump, West Ham are on the up. This can only end one way!
Aston Villa started their season with a bang, soaring towards the top of the table following some excellent results which included a surprise win over Liverpool. Paul Lambert signed a new contract at this point and things looked so rosy.
It wasn’t to last. Things quickly turned sour and the Midlands side have lost their last six matches, failing to even find the net during September and October. The decline must be halted, however Upton Park is unlikely to be the place that this will happen.
Can Villa get their season back on track against a Hammers side who have soared to fifth position thanks to some excellent performances? With thirteen points from last six top-flight games, West Ham will be hugely confident of defeating a struggling Aston Villa side, Liverpool and Manchester City two of the teams who have been put to the sword in East London so far this term.
As such, we see no reason whatsoever to oppose the Hammers in this encounter and odds of 3/4 at Betfred for a home win look a decent bet for this match.
Part of West Ham’s surge in fortunes can be placed firmly at the feet of Diafra Sakho, the Senegalese striker hitting the back of the net in each of his previous six appearances throughout September and October. He played no part in the Stoke City match last weekend, however he will be in action for this clash and looks decent value at 8/5 with Bwin to continue scoring on Saturday, 9/2 up for grabs should he break the deadlock.
Perhaps the best bet for us is simply a Hammers win, especially as they will be in high spirits folllowing their great start to the season. Villa are suffering a huge slump and will be lacking in confidence coming into this match so this can only go one way!
