Wolves welcome Fulham to Molineux tonight for a match which could offer much or could offer little. We'll be expecting the latter and won't be disappointed with a narrow Wolves victory which will send them through to the FA Cup fourth round.
A difficult choice here, Wolves or Fulham? A tight match lies in prospect at Molineux this evening, the two sides thrashing out an evenly-fought 0-0 draw in the first leg at Craven Cottage. Wolves start as firm favourites thanks to some excellent form recently and we’ll be backing the home side to go through to the fourth round at the second time of asking.
No one expects it to be easy however. Fulham will be the fresher of the two sides, Wolves having disposed of Blackburn Rovers in a Championship clash just 48 hours previously. Kit Symons is in charge of a Fulham side which can boast a larger squad from which to ring the changes.
Nevertheless, Fulham’s draw with Wolves is the only time since Christmas that the Craven Cottage outfit have avoided defeat since the middle of December. Indeed, they have failed to find the back of the net at all since the 4-0 defeat of Sheffield Wednesday on that date, something which will hardly fill them with confidence for their trip up to the Midlands.
Wolves are enjoying an excellent period of form which is in complete contrast to that of the visitors, coming into this match on the back of a six-match unbeaten run stretching back to early December. They achieved this without the services of their star player, winger Bakary Sako absent whilst on international call-up.
With neither side banging in the goals of late, we’ll be expecting a low scoring encounter, especially with Wolves suffering an amount of weariness thanks to their recent Championship action.
Either way, Wolves will likely edge this encounter. We shouldn’t expect goals however and a home win will likely come as a result of a solitary strike.
