Who will Hollie Doyle ride in the 1000 Guineas?

Hollie Doyle has never ridden in the 1000 Guineas at Newmarket, but given her performances of the last few seasons elsewhere, it would be no surprise to see her line up next season. Which filly she may ride in the first Classic of the season is still an unknown, but there could be one lurking in some of her regular trainers’ yards that is just waiting to get Hollie Doyle on their back.

Who will Hollie Doyle ride in the 2000 Guineas?

Hollie Doyle will be looking for more luck in the 2000 Guineas than she experienced in 2021. On that occasion, she was due to have her first ride in a Classic, but unfortunately her horse had different ideas, rearing over in the parade ring and subsequently being withdrawn. Next season, it will be interesting to see if the likes of Archie Watson, Jane Chapple-Hyam or even John Gosden or Aidan O’Brien will supply her with a horse to ride to get over the disappointment of 2021.

Who will Hollie Doyle ride in the Derby?

Having not ridden in the Epsom Derby to date, Hollie Doyle will be hoping that some of the two-year-olds she rode last season might improve enough to be a Derby contender. Doyle rides for such an array of trainers throughout the season, that if a horse does come out of the woodwork that might be good enough for Epsom, the leading lady rider will surely get the call.

Who will Hollie Doyle ride in the Oaks?

Hollie Doyle holds the record for being the highest-placed finishing female rider in the Epsom Oaks. That feat occurred in 2022, when she partnered the John and Thady Gosden-trained, Nashwa, to third - the same horse that she would go on to win the French Oaks on later in the year. Doyle will be hoping that a similar filly will come along this year for her to try to surpass last year’s third-placed finish.

Who will Hollie Doyle ride in the St Leger?

Hollie Doyle finished a very respectable fourth in her first St Leger ride in 2021 on the Aidan O’Brien-trained, Interpretation. She did not fare as well in 2022, however, as she finished last of the nine runners on the Ivan Furtado-trained outsider, Lizzie Jean. If the likes of O’Brien or some other top-level trainer is likely to have more than one entry, it would be no surprise to see Hollie Doyle getting the leg up.

Who will Hollie Doyle ride at Royal Ascot?

Hollie Doyle had a decent book of rides at Royal Ascot last season, nearly all of which came for trainer, Archie Watson. She is sure to have another strong list of booked rides at the Royal meeting in 2023, with Watson, and others, likely to call upon her services throughout the week of world-class racing action.

Hollie Doyle Biography

Hollie Doyle was born on the 11th October 1996 in Ivington, Herefordshire, in the West Midlands. Her father Mark is a former jockey, and her mother was also involved in horseracing in her youth. It was inevitable, then, that a young Hollie would follow in her parents’ footsteps and attempt to carve out a career as a jockey.

Hollie proved to be a natural in the saddle and rode in her first pony race at the tender age of nine. Fast forward to 2013, and even before her 17th birthday, the future leading female jockey was having her first ride on the track as an amateur. It was a signal of things to come that Doyle crossed the line in front to win on her riding debut. That same year she joined up with trainer David Evans, before moving on to work with Richard Hannon the following year.

Just four years after riding out her claim whilst at Hannon’s yard, Hollie Doyle began to make history. In 2019, her tally of 116 winners was the highest number ever achieved by a female jockey. This record would stand for just one season, however, as the following year Doyle surpassed her total by 35, with 151 winners in total.

2020 was to be the year that Hollie Doyle would firmly take her seat at the top table of flat racing. Not only did she break her own winners total again, but the leading lady rider also recorded her first Group race win. This came in the Group 2 Princess Of Wales’s Tattersalls Stakes at Newmarket, having previously enjoyed her first Royal Ascot winner on Scarlet Dragon in the Duke Of Edinburgh Stakes.

In August 2020 at Windsor Racecourse, Hollie would set another historic record by becoming the first woman to ride five winners on a single card. Not content with just that, she went on to be the first lady jockey to win on Champions Day at Ascot when winning the Long Distance Cup on Trueshan. Later that day, she also enjoyed her first Group 1 win when riding Glen Shiel to victory in the Champions Sprint Stakes.

Doyle would ride another five-timer at Kempton in March of 2021 and also go on to win her second Group 1 race in the Goodwood Cup a few months later. Between then, she had ridden in her first Classic when partnering Sherbet Lemon to ninth in the Epsom Oaks. She had been due to ride in the 2000 Guineas earlier in the season, but her mount reared over in the parade ring and was ultimately withdrawn. Later on in the year, she finished fourth in the St Leger at Doncaster, riding Interpretation for Aidan O’Brien. Doyle would finish the season with an incredible 172 winners, smashing her previous record by some distance.

More records were to fall in 2022. Riding the John and Thady Gosden-trained, Nashwa, to third place in the Epsom Oaks meant that Doyle became the highest-placed female jockey in a British Classic. The biggest day of her career to date would come when she rode the same horse to victory in the Group 1 French Oaks, becoming the first woman to win a European Classic.

Many records have already fallen for Doyle in her short career, and with so many years still ahead of her, the sky really is the limit for the unassuming, world-class flat jockey.
