Keith Curle will be looking to celebrate his contract extension with three points on Saturday.
Inconsistency is without a doubt the most apt word to describe Carlisle United’s season so far, although the basic fact is that the side now sit in the League Two play-offs and can cement their place in the top seven with a win against Crawley Town at Brunton Park on Saturday afternoon.
Spirits will be high in the Carlisle camp following a thrilling 4-3 win over Luton Town at Kenilworth Road on Tuesday evening, the Cumbrians fighting their way back from 3-1 down with the winning goal arriving on the 80th minute courtesy of Derek Asamoah.
Carlisle opened the month with an excellent 2-0 win at Plymouth, this result keeping alive their FA Cup hopes, however they were brought back to earth with a bump in their next mammoth away game, losing 2-0 at Bristol Rovers the following weekend.
They head into this weekend’s match on the back of a thrilling 2-2 draw at home to Portsmouth last Saturday, 900 Pompey fans being sent home heartbroken after seeing their side concede the equaliser very much against the run of play some four minutes into the added five minutes of stoppage time.
Such things regularly happen in football and Crawley Town are the next team to make the long journey up the M6 to Brunton Park. Will they return home with the points in the bag or will their travelling support be sent home disappointed?
We firmly believe that it will be the latter. Indeed, the Cumbrians have lost just twice in their ten home games this season across all competitions and we’ll be backing them to triumph again against a Crawley side which won’t be in the highest of spirits following their weekend home defeat to Northampton Town last weekend, a result which saw them drop to 15th in the League Two table
