Slowly but surely, Newcastle United are getting a grip of the season. They lost their first couple of matches but the following eight games have seen seven wins and just a solitary defeat.

That loss came last weekend against Wolves although they beat the same team in the EFL Cup and Rafael Benitez will now be calling upon his side to enjoy another six-match winning run that kickstarted their campaign.

Some of the recent away performances have been excellent. Newcastle controlled the game at the iPro Stadium when winning 2-0 and dished out an almighty thrashing to QPR when landing a 6-0 victory.

Take a look at the Magpies squad and you see Premier League quality in the form of Matt Ritchie, Mo Diame and Jack Colback, while Jonjo Shelvey has an excellent delivery from set pieces and has three goals on the board already.

Villa’s start to the season has been somewhat slower, with Roberto Di Matteo having managed to accrue eight points from eight games thus far.

Indeed, there has been just one victory in the Championship thus far and that came against lowly Rotherham, with the natives getting restless after a big-spending summer which saw Ross McCormack and Jonathan Kodjia arrive at the club.

Consecutive home draws against Nottingham Forest and Brentford means the Villans are easy to oppose when high quality opposition come to town and we have to get with big-spending Newcastle to enjoy their fourth away win of the season.
