Arsene Wenger and his team will fly to Germany full of optimism that they can get the better of Bayern, although the bookies have rightly made them big underdogs for this clash at the Allianz Arena.

There’s little doubt that Arsenal are genuine title challengers this term, having collected 25 points from their first eleven games and that was after a home reverse against West Ham in their opener.

Five out of six have been won on the road and the defence is looking very good, with Petr Cech performing heroics to keep out Bayern on the way to that 2-0 win although winning in Munich is a different kettle of fish.

Pep Guardiola’s team don’t do defeat at home. They instead specialise in emphatic victories which has seen the Bavarian side average four goals per match at the Allianz.

Friday’s match at Eintracht Frankfurt saw them strangely fail to find the net during a goalless draw, although Robert Lewandowski has a startling 23 goals for the season and we will see Thomas Muller returned to the team for this clash.

Arjen Robben is also back in the team for the visit of Arsenal and he can help cause havoc against a Gunners side who are missing Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain for this clash.

Aaron Ramsey is also missing, with Wenger having to work out whether Joel Campbell retains his place in the team or if Mathieu Flamini is a better option in the holding midfield role alongside Francis Coquelin.

Either way, the might of Bayern should end up winning the day and leave Arsenal with an uphill struggle when it comes to qualifying for the last sixteen stage.
