Things are pretty tight at the top of the Sky Bet Championship, with Burnley and Middlesbrough only occupying the automatic places on goal difference.

Brighton sit third and Boro can ill-afford to slip up on Friday night when they head to the Midlands and face a Birmingham side who have little to play for.

The Blues were in contention for a play-off place earlier in the campaign, although Gary Rowett’s team now sit ten points behind Sheffield Wednesday in sixth place.

It doesn’t mean that City will be lying down on Friday night and recent draws against Huddersfield and Preston have seen the Blues take the lead before being pegged back.

Middlesbrough arrive at St Andrews off the back of an eight-match unbeaten run, although only three of these games have been away from home.

Slender victories at Bolton and QPR were hardly convincing ones, with Ipswich holding Boro last weekend and Birmingham are capable of a similar hatchet job on Friday night.
