Bristol Rovers would normally have expected to claim automatic promotion with a return of 91 points from 46 matches, although Barnet edged them out of top spot and the Pirates now have to compete in the Conference play-offs.

Rovers’ opponents over two legs are Forest Green, who survived a three-point deduction to claim the last play-off berth and will now look to make the most of their position by beating a team who finished twelve points higher in the final standings.

Bristol Rovers only lost five games all season so we’re keen to get with a side who rounded off the campaign with a 7-0 demolition of Alfreton, having won six of their last eight matches.

Striker Matty Taylor has been especially good in recent weeks with eight goals in his past eleven matches, while veteran Andy Monkhouse brings plenty of experience to the midfield area.

Forest Green did have a better head-to-head record against their opponents in the normal season, with Adrian Pennock’s team rounding off their normal campaign with a goalless draw against Dover, having previously won three matches and scoring eleven goals.

They will want an advantage to take to the Memorial Ground although the class of the visitors might make all the difference here.
