I’m sticking to Carlisle for the day’s other selection, the Richard Fahey-trained BIMBO, who takes a big drop in class in the fillies handicap run over a few yards short of 6f (6.40pm). With the contest open to fillies rated 61-80, it’s a case of good placement by Fahey as she was dropped to that higher mark after her last run in a class 2 over 7f at Newmarket. She didn’t quite get home on that occasion, having shown plenty of pace early, and on her previous start in another 7f class 2 at the Newmarket July meeting, where she again looked to be treading water close home.

The drop back to 6f is therefore massively in her favour and it was over this trip that she won at Newmarket (a Class 4, same as today) three starts back and on her debut at Pontefract last June. In all reality, she probably stays a little further so today’s stiff six is ideal, and Jack Garritty’s claim could make all the difference in a race that won’t take an awful lot of winning.
