Chelsea wouldn’t have been odds-against for this fixture at the start of the season, although a sequence of poor performances and results have seen the bookies grow in courage and they are laying the champions at 11/10 for Saturday’s lunchtime encounter.

BetVictor are among those firms quoting those odds and you have to ask yourself – do Chelsea have a 50% or more chance of winning this game?

The fact that they are at home is a plus. The fact that they beat Arsenal is another. Let’s also not forget that they are facing a Liverpool team who have looked out of sorts for much of the campaign, with Jurgen Klopp still working out how to improve the club’s fortunes.

Daniel Sturridge and Jordan Henderson are two of the club’s most effective players although they are on the sidelines and perhaps this will give Chelsea an edge, with the Blues actually performing pretty well when drawing 1-1 with Stoke on Tuesday before losing on penalties.

Diego Costa has a rib injury, although Loic Remy scored at the Britannia Stadium and perhaps Eden Hazard will finally demonstrate why he was voted the league’s best player last term.

The 2-1 defeat at West Ham can be tempered by the fact that Nemanja Matic was sent off in the first-half of the game and Chelsea still nearly took a point from the game, with Liverpool’s hard-working ethos potentially not enough to get them anything from this match.
