With Storm Barney expected to do its worst over the next 24 hours, conditions at Wednesday’s jumps meetings could be very testing.

It’s already “soft” at Chepstow and, providing the meeting goes ahead, you are going to need a horse who is proven in the mud. Step forward BOYFROMNOWHERE who has twice won on “heavy” and has plenty else to recommend him in the 2m7f handicap chase at the Welsh track (due off 2.30pm).

A one-time rated 129 chaser when trained by Rebecca Curtis, he is now 20lb lower in the weights having lost his way and the switch to Neil Mulholland could well spark a revival. The gelding hasn’t run under Rules since finishing eighth at Wincanton last December, but he did win a point-to-point in the spring and today’s track, trip and ground are all perfect. Mulholland, who has his string in fine form, has booked leading amateur David Noonan to ride, and his 7lb claim is the icing on the cake.
