It’s been a progressive twelve months for the Eagles. Tony Pulis made a sharp exit at the beginning of last season before Neil Warnock’s lacklustre tenure was brought to an abrupt end. Then came Alan Pardew.

Love him or loathe him, Pardew has had the Midas touch since returning to his former club and has now accrued possibly the best Crystal Palace squad of all time, with Yohan Cabaye the notable jewel in the crown.

Bakary Sako could be the latest new signing to make his bow on Saturday, with the Eagles looking to return to winning ways after making a decent fist of things against Arsenal last Sunday before losing 2-1.

The 5/6 about a home win look a touch skinny at this early stage of the season, especially as Aston Villa won their opener at Bournemouth and also kept things tight when losing 1-0 against Manchester United.

Tim Sherwood will relish trying to nullify Palace’s leading lights such as Yanick Bolasie and Wilfried Zaha, with his hard-working team looking to get at least another point on the board.

However, Villa did ride their luck against the Cherries in that opener and an early Crystal Palace goal could see the visitors having to come out of their shell, with Rudy Gestede likely to be on from the start in this match.

One can’t help but feel that a comfortable home win is on the cards here, with Scott Dann and Damien Delaney likely to mop everything up at the back, while Pardew has plenty of options off the bench if things aren’t going to plan.
