Betting Tip: Draw @ 13/5 with ladbrokes

Group D has regularly been billed as the best section at Euro 2016, with the opening matches featuring slender 1-0 victories for both Croatia and Spain.

While it’s now tempting to assume that these sides will build on victories and qualify with ease, we shouldn’t rule out a Czech Republic side who actually topped a qualifying section featuring Iceland, Turkey and the Netherlands.

The Republic are not blessed with star names anymore, with Tomas Rosicky somewhat long in the tooth, even if Petr Cech is as safe a pair of hands as you could imagine.

However, they have good coherence and are capable of getting a positive result against a Croatia side who are short of attacking weaponry.

Veteran striker Mario Mandzukic is not the force of old, with this Croatia side reliant on Luka Modric and Ivan Rakitic to conjure up some magic from the middle of the park.

Therefore, we’re much happier to side with the draw than back Croatia at odds-on considering these sides are more evenly-matched than the odds suggest.
