Enough has already been written about Friday night’s atrocities in Paris, although the French FA have decided that Tuesday’s friendly at Wembley should go ahead rather than bow to the acts of terrorism that were committed.

What to make about the game from a betting point-of-view? Not a great deal, with the match obviously charged with emotion, especially from the French side of things as the players look to represent a country who are in mourning.

France are as big as 15/8 to win Tuesday’s game and they beat Germany at the Stade de France on Friday night, with Anthony Martial among those who started the game, while Olivier Giroud also enjoyed 70 minutes.

England are a similar price to win the game, having been outplayed in Alicante on Friday night where the Three Lions were putty in Spain’s hands. Once again, Roy Hodgson’s side seemed to suffer from an inferiority complex against a top team and it’s something that the manager needs to address.

“I can’t deny there’s something hanging over which is far, far greater than a football match,” said Hodgson.

“That will be lingering whether we like it or not. I’ve never been in a football game like this before.”

He added: “It’s a sad time and in terms of going on the pitch we can only do that in the understanding that all the security checks have been made and it’s safe to do so. Unless we are told otherwise we are assuming that we are right and ready to play.

“You never know what can happen but we have to assume we are safe on the pitch and hope we don’t have a repeat of what happened on Friday night.”
