All is not well at Chelsea after last season’s title winners collected just four points from their opening four games and a trip to Goodison Park now looms large on Saturday 12 September.

Jose Mourinho will have been frustrated by Chelsea’s inability to land their main transfer targets, particularly John Stones who was unable to force a move to Stamford Bridge despite a late transfer request.

Stones will now return from international duty to line up against the London side and there’s no getting away from the fact that Everton are way too big to win this match.

Roberto Martinez will have been relatively happy with his team’s start to the campaign which has seen them win 3-0 at Southampton, collecting a goalless draw at White Hart Lane and drawing 2-2 with Watford.

Everton did lose 2-0 at home to Manchester City although it was a case of fine margins against the league leaders, with Ross Barkley and Romelu Lukaku looking lively and the defence proving largely obstinate.

Chelsea’s defensive problems have been well documented and they have conceded at least two goals in each of their four matches thus far.

Therefore, odds-on quotes make little to no appeal and we’re happy to side with Everton on the handicap market considering that John Terry has been badly exposed at centre-half so far, with the visitors hoping that Pedro can inject some fresh life into a flagging team.

This fixture crazily ended 6-3 in favour of Chelsea last season although the presence of Stones at centre-half suggests that Everton will be a good deal more robust this time around.
