So it turns out Everton haven’t beaten Liverpool in their last ten clashes. Which means Brendan Rodgers is unbeaten in a Merseyside derby.

However, all good (and slightly mediocre) things must come to an end, with the Toffees suggesting they can beat their city rivals on Sunday, especially if they repeat the performance which saw them beat Chelsea 3-1.

That victory was far from lucky and Everton battered the champions in the first half to take a 2-0 lead, with Steven Naismith scoring an unlikely hat-trick.

Indeed, Roberto Martinez has a stack of attacking options at his disposal, with Ross Barkley excellent on the ball and Romelu Lukaku having made his presence felt as the Toffees came back from the brink to win at The Hawthorns.

Liverpool are a point behind their opponents coming into this game although there is not much between the sides anymore when it comes to the calibre of player.

Everton probably have the better defence providing that John Stones and Seamus Coleman are both fit for this encounter, with Barkley arguably the equivalent of Philippe Coutinho in terms of potential influence on the game.

The visitors have Daniel Sturridge back in the team and the striker helped Liverpool beat Aston Villa 3-2 last weekend, although the defence has looked vulnerable this term and Everton could exploit this.
