Francesco Guidolin is the new man at the Swansea helm, with the Italian taking charge of City for the first time on Sunday afternoon.

The former Udinese coach was certainly encouraged by Monday’s 1-0 win over Watford, with a strong first-half performance rewarded by Ashley Williams’ opener and the Welsh side stood firm for three points.

However, the Swans have been relatively weak on the road this season and their game plan on Sunday will be to nullify Everton rather than be too ambitious.

After all, we’re talking about a side who have managed just six goals on the road since that 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge on the opening day of the season when Garry Monk was full of optimism.

Bafetimbi Gomis has failed to keep finding the net since late summer, while Andre Ayew is a talented player but not an out-and-out striker that has been lacking since Wilfried Bony left the club.

Therefore, we can be reasonably confident that Everton keep a clean sheet in this match. That’s providing they aren’t prone to foolish defensive lapses which most commonly occur on the road.

The question is whether the Toffees can break down the organised ranks that will line up in front of them.

Romelu Lukaku is enjoying a brilliant season in front of goal and will hope that Ross Barkley and Gerard Deulofeu can engineer chances for his head or feet.

It’s probable that Everton will get at least the one goal although we’re happier to take a punt on a low-scoring encounter. A point would serve the Swans well and Roberto Martinez will want a clean sheet as his team bid to end their winless run in the Premier League.
