Salford City are getting plenty of attention after their takeover by the Class of 92 and subsequent promotion and cup upset against Notts County on Friday.

However, FC United are another big success story in Greater Manchester, with the club having been formed by disgruntled Manchester United fans no longer wanting to engage with the club following the Malcolm Glazer takeover.

Since forming ten years ago, the club have enjoyed a meteoric rise through the non-league levels, with the Reds now playing in the National League North and hoping to cause a big upset on Monday night against Chesterfield.

On paper, it seems like a tall order although Karl Marginson’s team will be bang up for this match against their Football League opponents, much in the same way that Salford City were highly motivated against Notts County.

We saw over the weekend that non-league teams are more than capable of pulling off an upset against league rivals, although in some cases they fall short.

Therefore, it’s probably best to avoid playing on the match winner market and instead plump for goals, especially as Chesterfield are capable of both scoring lots and also letting a few in at the back.

There have been 23 goals scored in the seven matches played at Broadhurst Stadium this season, so the BT Sport cameras are less likely to capture a goalless draw and more a high-scoring cup thriller, with Dean Saunders’ team likely to come out on top after ninety minutes.
