Germany have struggled to break down their opponents at Euro 2016 thus far, although they created enough chances against Northern Ireland to win three games.

In the end, Die Mannschaft managed to score just the one goal, with Mario Gomez finding a scoring touch and Joachim Low is likely to continue with the Besiktas striker who managed 28 goals in 41 appearances last season.

Gomez was left out for the first two matches although the decision to bring Mario Gotze back into the attacking trident and field the big German in attack means that the world champions have more impact in attack.

Slovakia demonstrated against England that they can be stubborn opponents, with Martin Skrtel getting his head on everything and that is why Gomez needs to start for Germany and act as a battering ram against the Slovaks.

These sides did meet in a pre-tournament friendly which saw Slovakia win unexpectedly by a 3-1 scoreline, with the conditions very wet and Germany clearly not at full tilt.

The Germans are yet to concede a goal however, with a goalless draw against Poland added to the win to nil victories against Ukraine and Northern Ireland.

Slovakia managed to beat Russia although that’s hardly a glowing indictment, while the 2-1 reverse against Wales could have gone either way.

Germany can claim a slender win here and we’re sticking with the man Gomez to add the scoring touch.
