Before Sunday 25 October, Harry Kane only had one Premier League goal to his name although the Tottenham Hotspur forward has since scored an additional twenty times to become the division’s top marksman.

His brace against Bournemouth on Sunday means Kane is now two goals clear of Jamie Vardy and a further one behind Romelu Lukaku, with the England front man now odds-on to win the Golden Boot.

Kane would clearly relinquish this prize for the chance to win a Premier League title with Tottenham and the London side sit five points behind Leicester City as the season draws to a close.

However, Kane is now no bigger than 8/13 to win the Golden Boot, with the striker having plundered five goals in his past three top-flight encounters.

His manager Mauricio Pochettino claims that Kane is the best striker in the league and one of the best marksmen in Europe.

‘Harry is one of the best,’ said Pochettino. ‘I’ve told you before. He’s one of the best strikers of a ball and his performance was fantastic today. It was a really good game for him.

‘It’s maybe difficult to say he’s the best, but he’s one of the best.’

‘It’s true they (Leicester) have a good advantage, but we need to fight and believe,’ he said.

‘We have to keep our standards up and go into the next game looking to perform like this again.

‘This season we’ve played a lot of good games and today was complete. It helped us to score early. We managed the game and had control after that. We did very well.

‘When you come through a very busy period, playing a lot of games as we have over the last few weeks, you can feel very proud.

‘The way we played showed maturity and energy — fantastic.’
