Arsene Wenger fielded a weakened team against Sheffield Wednesday in the Capital One Cup and were roundly beaten by a 3-0 scoreline.

Considering that result and also the fact that they drew 0-0 with Hull in the original tie, how can we back the Gunners to win this clash?

Arsenal drew 2-2 at White Hart Lane on Saturday with a spirited performance that saw Wenger field two defensive midfielders, although Francis Coquelin will be suspended for this clash.

Similarly, Petr Cech continues to be absent and the same applies to Laurent Koscielny, with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Santi Cazorla among the other players missing out right now.

Hull are very robust at the KC Stadium, with the Tigers having won eleven of their fifteen matches on home soil this term. They’ve only lost once and this is clearly a competition that Steve Bruce wants to win.

Hull’s last two home matches have both ended in a goalless draw, with Brighton and Sheffield Wednesday coming to town and shutting up shop. Previously to this, the Tigers won the previous four home matches without reply.

Therefore, six consecutive clean sheets in front of their own fans bodes well when it comes to shutting out Theo Walcott and Olivier Giroud during the week.

We should expect Wenger to give key personnel the night off and that includes Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez, with the kids potentially thrown to the Tigers.
