Oisin Murphy, who is on board Full Suit in the opening seller, has some fancied rides later on the card and the Clive Cox-trained PRINCE AHWAHNEE in particular looks to have a solid chance in the 6f handicap. A half-brother to the same stable’s Gilt Edge Girl, who got better with racing and had her finest hour in the 2010 Prix de l’Abbaye, he failed to win in five starts at two, albeit he showed plenty of promise and had this year’s Greenham winner James Garfield behind when finishing runner-up in a maiden run over this track and trip on his racecourse debut.

Looking to have done well for her winter break when reappearing at Lingfield earlier this month, he showed a good turn of foot to come from last to first in the space of a furlong to win handsomely. Granted, he had just two rivals to beat but the third, Al Barg, who was three and a half lengths adrift, has won a competitive Doncaster handicap since and is now rated 86. The selection therefore doesn’t look badly treated by any means on a mark of 87 and, given he’s from a family who tend to improve with age, there is surely plenty more to come.

The progressive Elnadim Star, who made it three wins on the bounce when scoring narrowly at Wetherby last time, could give the selection most to do, although a further 10lb hike seems harsh.
