Leicester are supposedly a team brilliant in the Champions League and ordinary in the Premier League. Which misses the point a little.

After all, the Foxes won 3-0 away to a Club Brugge side who would easily be relegated from the English top flight. They then beat Porto 1-0 in a tightly-fought contest which could have gone either way.

Similarly, the lion’s share of defeats in the Premier League have come away to really good teams. Like Liverpool, Manchester United and Chelsea.

So the bottom line is that Leicester aren’t bossing Europe nor finding life massively tough in the Premier League and defending their title was always going to be a tall order.

Victory on Tuesday night would put City well on course to win their group although Copenhagen drew 1-1 away to Porto before a 4-0 win over Club Brugge so it’s reasonable to assume they will acquit themselves well in this clash.

The Danish champions are top of their domestic league after accruing 29 points from 13 matches and they are unbeaten home and away.

It has now been four straight games keeping a clean sheet and the visitors could be on course for a draw against a side who have looked shaky defensively.

Chelsea were 2-0 up against Leicester in the first half of Saturday’s clash at Stamford Bridge, with Riyad Mahrez and Islam Slimani introduced in the 67th minute when the side were trailing.

Jamie Vardy is without a goal in his last eight appearances and there are enough weaknesses in this Leicester team to oppose them on Tuesday night.
