Backing against Leicester City has been a fast way to the poor house this season, although the Foxes were beaten at Anfield on Boxing Day and something similar could happen on Tuesday night when they entertain Manchester City.

Jamie Vardy was suffering from a fever for the clash against Liverpool, while Claudio Ranieri admitted that Riyad Mahrez was “very tired” and that is a concern ahead of a clash against a team who have a bigger squad to call upon.

While Vincent Kompany’s injury woes show no sign of abating, there is plenty to like about a side who boasts Kevin De Bruyne and Raheem Sterling, while Sergio Aguero was wrapped in cotton wool against Sunderland and could be poised to claim some goals.

Leicester have been previously famed for their fantastic work rate although this high-octane approach is harder to produce during the festive break when the players are flagging and training isn’t possible.

While City have benefitted from an extra day’s rest compared to other teams, we’re expecting Yaya Toure to see plenty of the ball and orchestrate the play as he did during the closing exchanges of the match at the Emirates Stadium recently.

Indeed, this could be the match where Pellegrini’s side demonstrate that their title charge is starting to gather pace again, with Leicester facing a scrap to stay in the top four despite a blinding first few months of the campaign.
