Liverpool and Manchester City have been drawn together in the Champions League quarterfinals and we will now be treated to a clash between two of the most exciting teams in European football.

The sides have already played out two goal-filled matches this season, with the Reds hammered 5-0 at the Etihad Stadium before ending City’s unbeaten Premier League run by winning 4-3 at Anfield.

Jurgen Klopp will hope for a similar result on Wednesday night although it’s worth noting that City were rampant towards the end of the latter clash and a lot came down to a strange ten minutes where Liverpool scored three goals.

Pep Guardiola’s side warmed up for the clash with a 3-1 win at Goodison Park which saw City move the ball around beautifully to fashion a host of chances, some of which were gobbled up by Leroy Sane, Gabriel Jesus and Raheem Sterling.

A similar type of performance will make it difficult for Liverpool who came from behind to win at Crystal Palace on Saturday although it might have been a different outcome if Christian Benteke had taken his chances before Mo Salah converted his.

Liverpool have an issue in the midfield department where Jordan Henderson, Gini Wijnaldum and James Milner are all slightly one-dimensional, while Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain does not have the ability to dominate games such as these.

It simply appears that City are coming to the boil at the right point of the Champions League, with Sane particularly outstanding and we’re happy to side with City to win this first leg.

Liverpool nearly always find the net at Anfield although City to win and both teams to score looks like a great play.
