Greece famously stunned Europe by winning Euro 2004 although the current crop of players are a pale imitation of the side that combined wonderful defensive play with the ability to beat the top nations.

It has been a car crash of a qualifying campaign for Kostas Tsanas’ side who have failed to win any of their eight matches thus far and were humiliated when losing home and away against the Faroe Islands.

Therefore, while Northern Ireland are a modest team with players plucked predominantly from English clubs outside the Premier League, they have to be backed in some shape or form to land that all-important victory on Thursday.

The Northern Irish have lost just one match throughout the campaign and their results at Windsor Park have seen two wins and two draws, with a last-gasp equaliser against Hungary illustrating that there is plenty of character within this team.

Greece will offer defensive resistance but virtually nothing in attack, with the visitors having managed just two goals so far, with Kyle Lafferty potentially the match-winner for the boys in green.

Perhaps the best bet of all is to back Northern Ireland to win by a slender 1-0 scoreline. Michael O’Neill’s side can be confident of holding a lead once they take it and book their place at the Euro 2016 party in France next summer.
