So much for the lottery of the play-offs. In the Championship, League One and League Two, the top two teams have both qualified for a Wembley final and that means it’s Norwich against Middlesbrough for a Premier League spot.

For one team, it will be jubilation and a reward for a successful season. For the other, it will be heart-break and it’s difficult to choose between these sides, with Boro the more pragmatic team of the two.

That could be seen at Carrow Road a few weeks ago when Aitor Karanka’s side took an early lead and then soaked up Norwich pressure, something which Alex Neil will be wary about for this match where Middlesbrough might look to make a flying start.

If Neil had been in charge all season, then Norwich could already be contemplating trips to Stamford Bridge, Old Trafford and the Etihad next season, with the Scot having enjoyed a fantastic win ratio since replacing Neil Adams.

Norwich came through a two-legged affair against Ipswich to reach Wembley and they have come a long way since that 4-0 reverse at the Riverside earlier this term, with the Canaries yet to experience defeat on the road in 2015.

Middlesbrough will clearly be a tough nut to crack, with Karanka having done very well with the Teeside club this season and they ended the season with an 85-point return from 46 games played.

A 5-1 aggregate victory over Brentford sets them up nicely for this Wembley clash, with Kike preferred over Patrick Bamford in the second leg against the Bees and Karanka will also consider Jonathan Woodgate for the play-off final in a game of such importance.

We’re going to back Norwich to go through in extra-time and perhaps the draw is the way to go for normal time here.
