Oppose the troubled ship Pompey

Betting Tip: Draw @ 5/2 with betway

It’s been a weird season for Portsmouth so far. Installed as pre-season favourites to win League Two, they sit third in the table after landing 28 points from their sixteen games played thus far.

Ultimately, it’s job done so far and remaining third would mean automatic promotion to League One, although home form is a real cause for alarm and the pressure appears to be getting to Paul Cook.

Pompey have won just two of their eight matches played at Fratton Park, with teams successfully nullifying the Portsmouth attack on a frequent basis and Exeter even made off with all three points.

It means that the home side can’t be backed with any confidence against a competent AFC Wimbledon team who will be well aware of their opponents’ current failings at home.

Neal Ardley saw his team beaten at home to Forest Green in the FA Cup, although Wimbledon have only lost two of their eight games on the road this term. They have won their last three league matches, with victories at York and Accrington cementing their credentials.

Therefore, the draw looks far better value than the home win, with the Dons looking to shackle their opponents and frustrate the supporters at Fratton Park who are yet to really see the real Pompey at home.
