It’s been an amazing week for followers of this column with a couple of big-priced winners (25/1 and 9/1) at Kempton on Wednesday evening followed by a treble at Goodwood on Thursday, and it’s safe to say we are now playing with bookmakers’ money.

I’m in no rush to give it back and Gleneagles is no betting proposition at the forecast odds-on to land back-to-back Classics when he lines up in the Irish 2000 Guineas at the Curragh, though it’s a race not to be missed (due off 3.20pm). The Temple Stakes at Haydock (3.45pm) is far more punter-friendly and I’ve a strong opinion on the Group 2 contest, which you can read all about elsewhere on this site. Robert Cowell’s Goldream being the selection.

Here, I’m going to put up a couple of others worth backing starting with the Kevin Ryan-trained COMPANY ASSET, who runs in the five-furlong Hilary Needler Trophy at Beverley (3.15pm). I made a few quid by backing the same trainer’s Captain Colby last Saturday (hope you were on too?!) and it’s a stable I follow closely, with the selection going in the notebook following an eye-catching third on her racecourse debut at Wolverhampton last month when as green as grass.

The winner Delizia franked the form when winning a Listed contest at York last week and the selection would have finished a lot closer but for missing the break, with all her best work coming late on. She can be expected to do much better with that experience under her belt and, while she will need an extra furlong in time, the stiff, uphill finish at Beverley should prove ideal. The stable has won this race three times in recent years and I make her my nap of the day at the 8/1 on offer.
