Liverpool ended a run of four games without a win by landing three points against Leicester on Saturday teatime, although it was far from plain sailing for a Reds side who dominated for large periods at the King Power Stadium.

From a seemingly unassailable leading position at 3-1, Liverpool conceded a Jamie Vardy goal and the striker then had a penalty to equalise, only for this to be saved by Simon Mignolet after the goalkeeper had conceded the spot kick.

We all know that the Reds can score goals for fun and the return of Philippe Coutinho provides an extra edge from set pieces, with the Brazilian scoring a wonderful free-kick against the Foxes and also putting the ball on the head of Mohamed Salah.

The bookmakers have Liverpool as strong favourites to win this Champions League clash and there will obviously be plenty of money coming for the away win although no certainty that this will happen.

Sadio Mane will also return for this clash after sitting out recent domestic matches due to suspension, although let’s talk about the way Liverpool have been defending on the road.

Watford scored three goals on the opening day of the season and Manchester City put five past the Reds when Mane was sent off early in the game. Leicester managed a further two on Saturday and we should also note that Sevilla came to Anfield a fortnight ago and landed a 2-2 draw.

Therefore, we can’t be confident of an away win in Moscow, with Spartak having drawn 1-1 away to Maribor in their opening group game before drawing against Tosno and Anzhi.

They may have drawn four of their past five matches but the Russian side are no mugs and won the Russian league last season by a country mile, with the team having scored in all-but two of their matches this season.
