Chelsea can’t be written off after one match, although the alarm bells are ringing at Stamford Bridge after losing 3-2 at home to Burnley.

Antonio Conte was powerless to prevent Nemanja Matic leaving for Manchester United and the unavailability of Eden Hazard and Pedro meant that Jeremie Boga was fielded for a brief while until Gary Cahill’s sending off led to a shuffling of the pack.

Boga might be thrust into action again this weekend, with Tiemoue Bakayoko struggling to be fit and Cesc Fabregas suspended, although Alvaro Morata looked bright against the Clarets and the Spaniard could like up at the national stadium.

Tottenham also have notable absentees in Kieran Trippier and Danny Rose, although Ben Davies and Kyle Walker-Peters acquitted themselves well against Newcastle and Spurs will be feeling pretty confident for this game.

Mauricio Pochettino has been sitting tight with regard to making new signings, although Heung-Min Son and Victor Wanyama are available and the triumvirate of Dele Alli, Christian Eriksen and Harry Kane have picked up where they left off.

Kane was slightly fortunate to remain on the pitch against Newcastle although the striker came close to scoring on several occasions and will be relishing the chance to fire some goals in this opening home match for Spurs.

Much has been made of Tottenham’s phobia of Wembley although they couldn’t be catching Chelsea at a better time and the roll call of unavailable players for the visitors is rather staggering.

We’re happy to take a punt on Spurs at even money and also back them to shut out their London rivals.
