Spurs would be too short at 8/11 to beat Monaco if they were playing at White Hart Lane on Wednesday and those odds are even more stingy when you consider that the match will be played at Wembley.

While the use of the national stadium will result in a bumper attendance, it isn’t a ground familiar to the Tottenham squad and it might even result in their French opponents feeling inspired to play at such a ground.

We should also take into account that Monaco are possibly on a par with their opponents, with the Ligue 1 side having enjoyed a fast start to the season and they sit top of their domestic league.

It’s been five straight wins for Leonardo Jardim’s team, with seven goals being scored in the past three matches which includes a 3-1 victory against Paris Saint-Germain and a 4-1 win away to Lille.

There’s a decent case for backing Monaco to win this clash considering that Spurs are hardly a major force in Europe and they have been stifled in their two home matches already this season.

Crystal Palace were close to landing a goalless draw and Liverpool owned Tottenham for large parts of their clash, even if Mauricio Pochettino’s side claimed a hefty 4-0 win over Stoke.

We’ll take the visitors on the handicap market and hope that their early form can continue here.
