Our resident tipster has run the rule over the four bookies.com sponsored races at Wolverhampton this evening.

The meeting gets under way with the Wolverhampton Tips At bookies.com Amateur Riders’ Handicap (due off 6.15pm) run over an extended 1m4f and PHYLLIS MAUD must take all the beating with top amateur Serena Brotherton booked. The three-year-old won at Bath last month and followed that with a close fourth at Brighton last time. That latest effort can be upgraded as she was crowded on the unfavoured far rail at a vital stage and today’s extra two furlongs are in her favour as she stays well.

We’re guessing over whether she will handle the Tapeta surface but her trainer Simon Crisford has been placing his horses well in his rookie season and particularly on the all-weather, with five of his 15 (33%) runners obliging, and market confidence has rarely been misplaced. The selection, who is bet365’s 13/8 favourite, could be the latest example of his skills.

Of the rest, Full Of Speed has finished in the frame on his last two starts, albeit well adrift at Kempton last time. David Pipe has his team in good form and his Willem is interesting now switched to the flat after running well over hurdles the last twice. However, his claiming amateur partner is still looking for his first winner, whereas Brotherton has had seven winners this season alone and has booted home four winners at this track. Her experience can prove decisive.
